I am not a parent. But I think I know what you're talking about. I have a sister who's also studying at Piaget. And I basically take care of her everyday, sending her to school, picking her up, paying attention to her studies blah2. Her exam is also coming up.

I think at her age, she has to learn to understand that result is not everything. We all know that kids make mistakes sometimes. And her main problem is carelessness. In my opinion, we should be focusing more on what the real problem is - in this case, carelessness. I know that my sister will do well in her exam. She will easily top the class IF ONLY you elimilate carelessness as one of the factor! =) So there is only one thing that I will "grill" her on - "Watch it, do not be careless because you will be gutted that you drop the marks just because you are careless. It will be a waste!" I would repeat that to her so often with the intention of emphasising it, hoping that she will really register it in her head and that everytime she does her exam, she will remember to be careful about the answer she put in.

I guess parents in medan focus far too much on the marks rather than the value that their children learn from every exam period. So yes, although the mark they get right now is unlikely to affect their future, it is good to actually focus on what will. In this case, maybe it's their attitute towards study and the development of their character, not really the result on the paper. Because once they learn the most essential thing, the rest will fall into place almost naturally. =)

Gosh, when you put it that way, I'm so not looking forward to the day I have to tutor my son. I guess as parents we'd never know if we've chosen the right way to educate our children, because we always want the best for them and we're ALWAYS left wondering if we'd made the right choice. Good luck to you and Jadon! :D
