Every year, my family will take two long family holidays, one in the June and the other in December… of which we will do the beach holiday in June (hotel rates are cheaper) and an adventure trip in December… and as for this year, we can finally take our two boys to Hong Kong Disneyland as my youngest son who are now 3 years old, are totally crazy over Mickey Mouse and the gang so we thought the timing is right….
For this trip I manage to get a good price for the package through Cathay Pacific airline and I arrange everything through them and pay online… so that was really convenient.. I could easily book through the local travel agent in Medan but I often get very expensive quote once they know that I am not a local and sometimes it takes them days just to get me the hotel rate… to come think of it, I hardly use the travel agent for my holidays booking anymore as I often find a better rate through the Internet… for example, www.phuket.com offers really good rate for hotels around Thailand, www.hk-hotel.com is good if you are looking for hotels in HongKong. As for hotels in Singapore and Malaysia, you can try www.hotelreservations.com which gives you up to US$100 cash back in addition to its special offer.

If you are looking for some extra activities for your kids, try Lego Education at ‘Robotics’ located at Jl. Thamrin. I was there to see my son participating for a day and happy to know that it’s a nice educational activities for him. It’s a two hours session where basic mathematics are taught, team work playing and games that involve creativity and lots of imaginations.
The entry age is at about 4.5 years old and the owner whom believe in high standard level are both involve in the teaching themselves. The materials used are genuinely imported from Lego Denmark. The school has an on going R&D and travel around Asia to compete in the robotics competition and proud to know that they did win lots of prizes too!
However please note that Lego education is different from the Lego retail i.e the Lego toys from Sogo or the department store. Lego education provides more details and the Lego pieces allowed you to build and assemble parts with more specification. As for the cost of the classes, once a week session is at Rp 350.000. Not bad isn’t it?

Buying magazines in Indonesia is so costly and difficult to get hold of. On my recent search, I found a company by the name of Zinio Online which sells online digital magazines at about 70% off the selling price. I was over the moon coz each month I spent almost about a million rupiah to keep myself entertain and update on the outside world. For example, a copy of metropolitan home mag which cost about Rp 150.000 at Mr Ben will only be about 70 cent at Zinio. The company will automatically delivered and notified you each month so its automatically downloaded onto your PC.
If you check out the international section, it comes in the different countries version too such as Spain, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Finland as well as Thai! Its amazing coz its really cheap and very convenient.
