My husband needed a high quality photo of himself for a magazine feature and so we decided to take it at one of the studio in town. The session was OK but the most ridiculous thing that happen was when we ask for a copy of the photo, they just simply refused! As we needed it fast, we simply ask for the unedited and for only the digital format ( i.e they don’t have to print for us just simply transfer it to my USB which I have on hand or save it to a CD for us ). After 20 minutes of explaination, the salesgirl keep giving us that irritating look and keeps increasing the price for the express service from Rp 10.000 to Rp 20.000 per each photo that we need to transfer for the soft copy!!!. Mind you, we already agreed to pay for the photos at Rp 100.000 EACH!!!… I simply just couldn’t believe it… we were so pissed, we just walked off without paying for it…
AHA… guess what.. they called us back the next day.. apologised and said that all photos will be ready by the evening… (initially they needed 1 month for processing!)… hahah….. damn the salesgirl!!!

After a month away from Medan and coming back to face all the crisis that Medan is having is a total nightmare. Electricity is constantly out, Gas is not constant and worst yet we are facing with water crisis too…. For the past several years, I will see blackout only when there is a heavy downpour but NOW, its everyday for at least 4 hours! what is happening and why is the government not doing something about it? why fix those multi-colour coconut tree lighting along the road when we are so short of PLN for the daily use? Frankly, all the coconut tree lighting, does anyone like the sight of it? does it make the town looks much prettier? My past experienced had it that all my guests laughed at it, making me feel so embarrassed and feeling even more kampong staying here… why not have kue ambon or the bolu that represent Medan more?
we shouldn’t have come back… ai.. what a life….

There is no denying that the best hospital in Medan has to be the Gleneagles Hospital at Jl. Listrik. Supposedly, it is a franchise from Singapore Gleneagles Hospital, but frankly, I doubt it. But again, you have no other choice as the hospital has one of the best facilities and is the cleanest – an important factor. Nevertheless, do not expect much professionalism from the staff and whatever medicine is given to you, please double check to make sure that it is of the right prescription and the expiry date is the most important factor. I gave birth to my second child here and we were given an expired milk to my horror – I discovered it when I asked to feed my son personally in our own room and told the nurse to bring up the milk to my room and as a precaution, I looked at the date of expiration – its 2 months overdate!
If you happen to have small child, two of the best paediatrician is Prof. Syaria Pasaribu and Dr. Chairul Yoel, whom both stationed at Gleneagles Hospital. Nevertheless, any serious health problem, you may prefer to travel out to Singapore or Malaysia for a more through check up.
